Privacy, effective 5 October 2026

We never see your messages.

Text Records is built so that your chats stay on your device. This page lists everything we do collect, which is very little.

The free web tools

The tools on this site (WhatsApp to PDF, Telegram to PDF, Instagram and Messenger to PDF, and Verify an export) run entirely in your browser. Your files are read by JavaScript in the page and never sent to us or anyone else.

  • Every page is served with a Content-Security-Policy that only allows connections to textrecords.app itself. The tools don’t send your files there either: the only requests they make are for the fonts used to build the PDF.
  • You can check this in your browser’s developer tools, on the Network tab, while you use a tool.

The website

  • No cookies. No analytics. No advertising or tracking scripts. No third-party fonts or embeds.
  • The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We have not turned on request logging for the site.

The launch list

Before the app launched, you could join our launch list. If you did, we store:

  • your email address,
  • which list you joined and the page you signed up on,
  • the date and time, and
  • a random token used for the one-click unsubscribe link.

We don’t store your IP address. The list lives in a Cloudflare D1 database that only we can access. We used it to send early-access invites and to tell you when the iPhone app launched. We don’t sell or share it. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link that deletes your address immediately. You can also ask us to delete it by emailing ppa.sdrocertxet@olleh.

The iPhone app

The app is built so that we never receive your messages. Importing, reviewing and exporting all happen on your iPhone. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

  • No account and no sign-in.
  • No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs. The app contains no third-party code at all.
  • The app never sends your messages anywhere. Chats, media and exports are stored encrypted on your iPhone and stay there until you share a file yourself, for example by saving a PDF to Files or sending it by email.
  • For iMessage and SMS, Apple’s Shortcuts app runs on your iPhone and passes only the messages from the dates you choose to Text Records.
  • Purchases go through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles payment, and we receive no personal information from Apple beyond its standard sales reports.

Optional permissions

The app asks for each of these only when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no and keep using the app.

  • Contacts: to look up names for phone numbers in a chat. The lookup happens on your iPhone, and only the names you accept are saved, in the app’s own display-name layer. Nothing is sent off the phone.
  • Notifications: local notifications only, such as a reminder to come back to the app after the Shortcut finishes, and app-lock reminders. No push notifications are sent from a server.
  • Speech recognition: to transcribe voice notes. Transcription runs on your iPhone with Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Apple may download its speech model to your phone; the audio is not sent to us.

Keeping it private on the phone

  • You can lock the app with Face ID or your passcode.
  • The app hides its content in screenshots and screen recordings by default. You can change this in Settings.
  • Deleting a chat or an export in the app removes it from the app. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
  • Files you share leave the app. Where they go, and who can see them, is up to you and the service you send them to.

Changes and contact

This policy is effective from 5 October 2026. If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions or requests about your data: ppa.sdrocertxet@olleh.
